Inaprubahan ng Kamara ang panukalang nagtatakda sa minimum wage o suweldo ng mga caregiver.
Nakasaad sa HB 6424 (Caregivers Welfare Act) na inakda nina Reps. Herminia B. Roman (1st District, Bataan) at Karlo Alexei B. Nograles (1st District, Davao City), ang P7,000 kada buwan na suweldo para sa mga caregiver na nagtatrabaho sa National Capital Region (NCR) o Metro Manila.
Ang mga caregiver sa chartered cities at first class municipalities ay tatanggap ng P5,500 buwanang suweldo, habang ang mga nasa ibang mga bayan ay tatanggap ng P4,000 bawat buwan.
Mahigpit na ipinagbabawal sa mga employer o amo na bayaran ang caregiver ng anumang pangako o promissory note, voucher, coupon, token, ticket, chit o anumang bagay na hindi cash, alinsunod sa isinasaad ng batas.
“The role of caregivers in national development, policies in the practice of the caregiving profession must be instituted to protect the rights of caregivers and to promote their welfare towards a decent employment,” pahayag ni Roman
Dapat din na maging saklaw ng Social Security System (SSS), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), at ng Home Development Mutual Fund or Pag-IBIG ang mga caregiver bilang bahagi ng kanilang mga benepisyo.
